The Irish Open Holdem Perpetual Trophy was the pinnacle acalaide of the Irish Poker Community in the 1980's and 90's. It was fought for over the Easter weekend each year and attracted players from all over, all the legends of Irish Poker would climb out of the woodwork to participate.
The Irish Open Holdem Poker tournament dates back to 1980, with the addition of the Irish Open Holdem Perpetual Trophy in 1990 which was won by Liam Flood.
This makes the trophy one of the oldest, if not the oldest Holdem Poker trophies in existence.
The trophy was battled for in the 1990's and awarded to the victorious champions
